- The term "longevity hubs" can refer to cities or regions leading in innovation and economic activity for aging populations, and examples include Boston, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Dubai, and São Paulo.
Longevity hubs These hubs focus on creating products, services, and policies for the aging population, with some focusing on global exportability and others on local needs. Boston, USA: A hub with strong global aims and a focus on innovation, partly due to the presence of institutions like the MIT AgeLab. Tokyo/Japan: A major hub, particularly focused on local aims, given Japan's large and aging population. Dubai, UAE: A hub with a top-down government approach and a significant focus on high-quality healthcare and related investments. São Paulo, Brazil: A hub with a strong focus on local aims for its aging population. Tel Aviv, Israel: A hub that mobilizes municipal services to bring central services directly to people, such as through app-based primary care access. Louisville, USA: Another location highlighted in the MIT Press book Longevity Hubs. Newcastle, UK: Also featured as a hub of aging innovation in the MIT Press book.

In light of the transition from a rural to an urban society stated in 2008 , the city - now more than ever - has a decisive role to play in triggering and guiding the determinants that influence our health. Considering the transition to a society of longevity, cities can and must amplify the role of "champion of prevention" and be the partner and facilitator of citizens in the path to their healthy longevity. We have learned that it is meaningless to merely treat people for a health condition if we do not address the causes of that condition and actively try, not only to counteract them but also and above all, to prevent them. And the city is the avant-garde ecosystem to implement this action. More info at info@cityoflongevity.org
